Who would have thought that this time last year we were only just hearing about Covid 19 and assuming it was another flu strain! At the end of 2019 our team were busy engineering and dispatching large orders before the holiday shutdown with little awareness of what was about to happen.
In early 2020 our travel and overseas conferences started getting postponed and then cancelled. Remote based staff members were recalled urgently back to NZ as the worldwide pandemic became even more serious. Then in March New Zealand went into a sudden, unexpected lockdown that heavily impacted many businesses. Our office based staff could certainly work from home but the CNC machining, assembly and dispatch teams couldn’t operate anymore under the high lockdown restrictions we had. This quickly became problematic for our essential services clients who were still operating during lockdown and required parts urgently from Oasis Engineering. Therefore many of our team volunteered to work physically distanced shifts in highly sanitised settings in PPE gear to process these urgent orders. Like most workplaces, a few workers (or their families) would have become severely immune compromised had they contracted Covid 19, so they stayed safely at home with our management’s full support. In short, our team stepped up, helped out and did what was required to support our customers as well as Oasis Engineering so a big thanks to them!
Also we want to give a huge thanks to our clients who stuck by us during lockdown and throughout 2020. The initiative of ‘Support Local’ swept through New Zealand and Oasis benefitted from this local business focus. Our overseas clients have also been wonderful while encountering much more difficult circumstances than New Zealand with repeat lockdowns, high Covid 19 numbers and supply delays/shortages. We have truly appreciated your loyalty and on-going business this year and look forward to the opportunity to visit you again in future.
