From Lean to Digital – How Oasis Engineering Started Our Industry 4.0 Journey

Oasis Engineering’s General Manager Kevin Flint was to speak in a series of seminars at the annual EMEX show in Auckland this week to discuss our Industry 4.0 journey in manufacturing and engineering. However the show has just been cancelled due to Auckland heading into Level 3 restrictions/Lockdown. At  this stage it’s unclear if the show will be postponed or not. If it is postponed we will advise you of new dates/time to hear Kevin’s seminar. There are several years’ of innovations, creations and solutions in the manufacturing, engineering, machinery, electronics and technology industries that were set up on display just before the Lockdown started on 15th Feb 2021 when the show was due to launch so hopefully it may still go ahead this year at some point. 

After many years of using Lean efficiently, Oasis Engineering has developed a continuous improvement culture based firmly on Industry 4.0. At a future date Kevin will discuss how Oasis has been on a lean improvement journey for over 10 years and more importantly how this improvement cycle never ends.  As a company we continuously identify areas to improve, then these initial fixes highlight further issues to examine and so the process continues.

Early improvements in manufacturing are easy wins or so called ‘low hanging fruit’ to businesses.  However they can easily make the mistake of identifying and improving these easy areas and then assuming that the Lean Improvement process is complete. In fact, there are continuous opportunities for improvement that can be determined by internal and external factors (such as lockdowns).  Successful business leaders acknowledge the success of this on-going process and proactively implement regular continuous improvement throughout their businesses.
